The Door!

On the whole, as a group and as an individual, I think me an the rest of the group worked well together make and complete the film shown above to the greatest standard that we could possibly achieve. during the filming i was particularly took a backseat role and was in the shadows when it came to the communication side of things with my peers that played the actors, due to me not knowing them as much as i would of liked to, i didn't feel as outgoing as i normally am as a person. As the filming went further. We had to do two sets of filming and by the second round of filming i felt like i was coming out of my shell more offering more involvement with the actors.

On the story board aspects of things me and my partner Sophie Dewery worked on the whole thing together instead of taking a section each, we bother drew the illustrations and annotations, we where both heavily involved. I came up with the initial idea of the film and then we both added extra ideas to it it and also took parts out.

I had made a short film when i was in year nine for an English project but,  this was the first time I had filmed anything important and on this scale of difficulty and complexity as I this was my first year of dong media studies as i had not took it as a subject at high school . During the beginning stages of the filming process i found the setting up of the camera we was provided with a little difficult due to the fixing of the camera to the tripod and it took a while and it got the better of me so i had t get Sophie to do it, getting used to all of the different buttons was the easy part and i took it in my stride. When members of the group and also me got into problems and didn't know what to do in terms of using the camera we came together to help each other out, all offering valuable input.

Moving onto the camera shots we did and didn't cover in the film above:
I think that when it came down to the filming process me and my partner covered a lot off camera shots for example, over shoulder shot, and establishing shot, there is two match on actions in our film and the first one worked extremely well the second one on the other hand didn't fit as perfectly as the first one. the second match on action was a planned camera shot but the first one when Chloe(the scary girl) was walking up the path way after the establishing shot when she walked past the camera and out of the shot we matched it extremely smooth on the second shot of her walking, we didn't plan it, it just sort of came together and as it shows it worked well and did not stop the flow of the film. We missed out a 180 degree shot it slipped both mine and Sophie's mind's when story boarding, if this shot was added into the film i would of Had a more of a free flowing atmosphere. We achieved the shot reverse shot when Sophie (scared girl) was shocked as she saw something, then we used shot reverse shot showing the Chloe standing there then once again back to Sophie. this shot fitted smoothly into the short film offering more of a understanding outcome for the audiences viewing the film.

On the editing side of things of the film we, i literally had no idea of how to edit it and add any other transitions, as the program we used on the computer i had never come across before, anytime i had to edit a film i had made or found was using movie maker which is a basic editing software compared to what we used, i cant remember the name of the software but once getting used to it and playing around with it before starting the serious editing i found it easy to get on with and as you can from the film me ad Sophie put together it shows that we knew in the end we knew what we where doing. we Had a few hick ups due to the camera's not being charged so we had to move things around a bit to be able to complete the editing phase. i thinks Sophie done exceptionally well on the editing of the film as she looked like See had come across this type of editing software before. we where both selecting things then agreeing or disagreeing then when we found the right balance of transitions and timings we both thought suited the film the best we set it all up. although we had the slight delay due to the cameras we managed to complete the final piece with all editing done in great time and still had a few minutes to spare. during the film there is a slight moaning noise this is made by some student as it started to rain whilst we was filming and she happened to walk out of a door to Th left of us and made a moaning noise due to the rain falling down her, we was unable to remove this from the final product as we didn't know how,and didn't have the time and facilities to re-film.

during this task and piece of course work i learnt a lot of valuable things that would help me progress further in media studies and help in future projects. i learnt how to set up equipment use the camera, edit the clips and the most important thing as i gained the confidence to speak up and voice my opinions whether they where used or not. i feel i have improved on my very basic knowledge of the subject a considerable amount.
